For objects of beauty - just look inside

One of the most amazing objects Dick Oehlenshlager showed the Collections class this week was a skeleton of a paddlefish.

In life, they are long faced creatures that look relatively prehistoric....  with large gaping mouths open to feed
 

But underneath this fleshy face is a structure that is so beautiful:
